Appearance
Avaline stands at about 5'3 with a petite frame, though she often wears high heels that are at least three-inches high as she loathes having people tower over her. She's pale with long raven locks and dark obsidian orbs that tend to convey more emotion than she would prefer. She was born in Finland and, does have a rather strong Finnish accent,


Personality
Who she is talking to is a major factor in Avaline's personality. If it is someone she is friends with, she's fun to hang out with with her dry sense of humour, friendly with a kick of flirtation, and generally a blast to be around. Especially since she loves going to parties. However, if its anyone else, someone she isn't particularly close to, she appears to be rather distant, and tends to come off as icy and a little rude, especially since she is a firm believer in speaking her mind and doesn't hold back in stating her opinion. It isn't that she doesn't like making friends, quite the opposite, in fact. She just isn't one to let her guard easily and it takes a bit of time for trust to build. However, the moment one does, they'll see the charming young woman behind the icy mask.

Brief History
Avaline was born in Helsinki, Finland to a wealthy, influential family highly involved in politics and in the Ministry. She had a choice to attend the local School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Kitee, but opted not to, wanting to study abroad, therefore choosing Hogwarts. She was immediately sorted into Slytherin and got on fairly well with her fellow House-mates, eventually befriending all of them.

She was one of the more rebellious students with a tendency to land a handful of detentions here and there and skip classes quite a few times, except for Potions, that is. Potions was always a favorite subject of her's, one where she excelled in and eventually made her career, working in Britain's Top Potions Lab.

Unfortunately, her views and opinions clashed severely with those of her Lab Superiors, causing numerous conflicts, because in Avaline's firm belief that the ends always justified the means., No matter the costs or sacrifices, it didn't matter who died or was injured in the name of Potioneering. As long as she got her answer, that was all that mattered. As a result of that belief, three people in her department died due to an experiment under her supervision, and she was immediately dismissed from the Lab as a result, forcing her to seek a post at Hogwarts.

Roleplay Sample
Professor Korpela frowned at the sight inside the Potions Dungeons. Inside were students playing around, chattering and talking loudly, even going as far as throwing paper airplanes at each other.
She took a moment to breathe in deeply, calming herself, before venturing off into the unknown. She opened the door slowly, enabling herself to sneak in w/out attracting the students attention, pausing for a moment before slamming the door loudly, successfully captivating the students attention.

Avaline smirked as the previous loudness ceased to exist and all the students turned to her. Seeing over half the students terrified, and a few close to tears, she concluded that this must be the group of first years (She hadn’t bothered to look over her schedule) She smiled to herself as she noticed a few students looking at her with admiration. “Slytherins!” she thought excitedly to herself, smiling inside.

The happiness quickly faded however when she noticed a few students beginning to goof off once more. Straightening her posture, she returned to her normal stern appearance and paced down the classroom.

“There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class.” She approached the front of the classroom to her desk, noting how all the students immediately obeyed.

At the corner of her eye she spotted a first year, clearly not a Slytherin with a few tears of terror trailing down his face. She rolled her eyes briefly at this pathetic display before turning her attention back to the class. “I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few...” Avaline allowed her gaze to linger at the Slytherin tables, a rare smile gracing her face. “Who possess, the predisposition... I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death.” During her speech she had conjured a few holographic images of her speech, providing a visual aid, heightening some student’s interest, a few even going so far as to lean forward in their chair.
